Donation Platform CHERRY Teams Up with Incheon International Airport Corporation for "Hope Walk" Walking Donation Campaign
CHERRY, a blockchain-based donation platform, announced on the 21st that it is running "Incheon Airport Hope Walk," a walking donation campaign to improve mobility for people with limited mobility, together with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) and the Korean Red Cross Incheon Branch.
The campaign is a participatory social contribution initiative that turns everyday steps into donations, and it runs on CHERRY's walking donation service. Anyone, including IIAC employees, can take part simply by walking.
The campaign runs for 20 days, from September 16 to October 5. Participants can join the "Incheon Airport Hope Walk" campaign in the CHERRY app and donate the steps they walk in their daily lives.
To mark the 25th anniversary of Incheon Airport's opening, the step goal has been set at 250 million steps. If the goal is reached, IIAC will donate 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross Incheon Branch. The donation will be used to provide walking aids to support the mobility rights of elderly people in super-aged regions across the country.
Offline events are also being held to boost participation. From the 16th to the 22nd, CHERRY is operating a promotional booth at the Transportation Center of Incheon Airport Terminal 2, where it guides airport users on how to join the campaign and gives souvenirs to those who verify their participation.
Lee Su-jung, CEO of CHERRY, said, "The ordinary steps of each and every citizen add up to tangible sharing that helps people with limited mobility get around. We are connecting technology and services so that citizens can easily take part in the social contribution activities of companies and public institutions." She added, "We will continue to expand a participatory donation culture in which various everyday actions lead to giving."
CHERRY launched in 2019 as Korea's first blockchain-based donation platform. Built on a transparent donation system, it has expanded participatory services such as CHERRY Work, CHERRY Photo, and donation kiosks. It is also currently developing services that combine AI (artificial intelligence) technology with social contribution data.
