Charity platform 'CHERRY', surpassed 7 billion won in cumulative donations

Domestic blockchain-based charity platform "CHERRY" announced that it was achieved a cumulative sponsorship amount of 7 billion won in three years after the launch of the platform.

Until now, a total of 320 organizations have conducted 1,552 donation campaigns through CHERRY, and the cumulative number of donations has exceeded 103,093.

The company explained that CHERRY's growth is attributed to the active participation of the MZ generation (20-39 years old).

According to the National Tax Service, more than 60% of Korean donors are in their 40s and 50s. However, about 60% of CHERRY donors are from the MZ generation, and also four out of five largest individual donors are from the MZ generation.

There was an active will of CEO Lee Sujeong, who developed "CHERRY", to lead the MZ generation which is not familiar with cash donations. She said "We have to build a platform to nurture the next generation into future philanthropists."

CEO Lee Sujeong, who developed CHERRY, drew donations from the MZ generation in various ways, including "CHERRY Sneaker’s Day," "CHERRY Dance Challenge," and "Geppetto Challenge connected to Metaverse platform Geppetto." It also took the lead in conveying the value of donation to MZ generation in various ways, such as holding a ‘CHERRY Mascot Character Contest’ with a prize of 10 million won and running an online volunteer school called CHERRY School.

In addition, there were active ESG activities of companies in spreading CHERRY's donation culture. BC Card introduced three campaigns of the CHERRY Charity Platform, where executives and employees can participate in the Lunar New Year, and can also donate to L.point and L.pay through partnership with Lotte Members.
