CHERRY Co., Ltd., the operator of the blockchain-based donation platform "CHERRY," announced on March 27 that it had successfully completed the second demonstration workshop and on-site testing of its barrier-free donation kiosks at Kyungpook National University. The initiative is part of the "Smart City Innovative Technology Demonstration Support Project."
The core objective of this demonstration is to develop a barrier-free solution that enables users to control kiosks directly from their smartphones via QR codes, without requiring any additional hardware. The project aims to enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities and those with limited digital access.
On March 25, CHERRY held its second demonstration workshop at the Daegu Scale-up Hub (DASH), bringing together civic participants, technical experts, and corporate representatives. Participants tested the QR-based kiosk solution and analyzed issues arising from real-world usage. By setting user scenarios for wheelchair users and elderly individuals, the team conducted step-by-step evaluations of the entire kiosk experience and identified areas for improvement. User surveys recorded an average satisfaction score of 4.48 out of 5, exceeding the target benchmark.
Following the workshop, CHERRY conducted an on-site demonstration at the Kyungpook National University Global Plaza. According to the company, the tests showed notable improvements in system response speed, stability, and QR-based accessibility. Wheelchair users and elderly individuals were able to use the kiosks independently without assistance. However, several areas for improvement were also identified, including difficulties in the payment process in certain device environments, psychological concerns regarding personal data privacy, and stability issues during data input.
CHERRY plans to further refine the service based on the feedback while preparing for a second demonstration targeting standard food and beverage kiosks at "Cafe Gooken," located on the first floor of the Daegu Scale-up Hub.
"Through this workshop and on-site demonstration, we were able to identify both real-world challenges and future potential from the user’s perspective," said Soo-jeong Lee, CEO of CHERRY. "We will continue to advance our technology to expand its application across various public institutions and commercial facilities."
