Cherry Successfully Develops and Demonstrates Its ‘NFT Photo Booth’ Service

ree

Cherry Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Soo-jung), the operator of Korea’s blockchain-based donation platform CHERRY, has successfully completed the development and pilot testing of its NFT Photo Booth service through the “2025 Daegu Blockchain Mainnet Operation Support Project” led by Daegu Technopark. This project is regarded as a representative public blockchain initiative that allows citizens to naturally experience blockchain technology in their daily lives.

Cherry integrated blockchain technology into its existing offline photo booth, Cherry Photo, creating a fully automated one-stop service that covers the entire process—from photography, automatic NFT issuance, and DID authentication to saving the asset in a personal wallet. Users can receive “their own digital asset” simply by taking a photo and entering their mobile phone number, without the need for a complicated wallet installation process.

The pilot test was conducted at two photo booths located inside Kyungpook National University and achieved outstanding results, recording 266% of the NFT issuance target and surpassing all quantitative goals, including new DDDaegu app registrations. For technological advancement, key features were completed, such as the NFT issuance system, photo metadata processing technology, and DID-based smart login integration. Related technologies have also been filed for patent registration (Application No. 10-2025-0169088).

Through this pilot, Cherry verified the applicability of Daegu’s public blockchain infrastructure—Daegu Chain and the DDDaegu app—to real-world services. The company plans to expand the service to major commercial districts, tourist attractions, and festivals in Daegu, introduce it to 15 Cherry Photo locations nationwide, and roll it out to overseas branches as part of a staged expansion strategy.

In particular, the pilot confirmed the potential for sustainable revenue models, such as NFT issuance fees and premium frames/goods, as well as B2B licensing models for photo booth franchise operators and event companies. It also highlighted the possibility of expanding into global markets based on K-content.

CEO Lee Soo-jung said, “This pilot proved that combining the familiar interface of a photo booth with blockchain can provide citizens with a natural and intuitive experience of the technology. We plan to expand the service throughout the Daegu blockchain ecosystem and further into national and global markets.”
