CHERRY Launches ‘Hometown Donation’ Service to Enhance Donation Accessibility and Transparency

CHERRY, Korea’s first blockchain-based donation platform, announced that it will officially launch its Hometown Donation service on December 1.

With the launch of this new service, users can now easily donate to any municipality across the country—except for their own registered address—directly through the CHERRY app.

The Hometown Donation Program was established to support local economic revitalization and address population decline in regional areas. Donors contribute to local governments and, in return, receive tax deductions and local gift items. Importantly, the donations are used directly for community needs such as resident welfare, regional development, and educational and cultural initiatives.

Through this service, CHERRY provides an accessible and intuitive donation experience. Once users select a thank-you gift from a participating region, the app clearly guides them through the required points and donation steps, enabling a seamless giving process. For example, a contribution of 100,000 KRW provides a tax credit of 100,000 KRW as well as a 30,000 KRW local gift, offering a total benefit equivalent to 130,000 KRW.
