Held a 'donation' webtoon contest to nurture future generations of philanthropists
In the heyday of webtoons, where there are more than 72 million monthly webtoon users worldwide, based on the largest portal site in Korea, a webtoon contest is held with a special subject called 'donation'.
Korea's first blockchain charity platform 'Good Day for Donation, CHERRY' (hereafter CHERRY) will hold the '1st Good Day for Donation, CHERRY Webtoon Contest' from August 1st.
The donation webtoon contest, which is held for the first time this year, aims to improve the donation culture that is shrinking year by year and to draw attention to neighbors who are marginalized in society and need a helping hand through donation webtoons.
Under the banner of 'a better tomorrow drawn with good webtoons', this contest is divided into student and general divisions, and anyone can participate as an individual or as a team of three or less.
The theme of the contest is △creating a donation campaign within the CHERRY platform into a webtoon △creating a webtoon of one's own donation/volunteer experiences. The application condition is at least 8 cuts of webtoons, and applications will start on August 1st and will run for two months until September 30th. Support is available through CHERRY App/Web (cherry.charity) and Allpeopletoon (allpeopletoon.com).
The prize money of 12 million won is also drawing attention. Participation certificates are issued to all participants, and various prizes such as prize draws, prize money, certificates, and high-spec monitors and tablets are awarded to winners of the first place or higher. In addition, winning works of more than the winning works will be published on 'All People Toon', a diversity webtoon platform.
CHERRY, which hosts the contest, is the first block-chain privately-led national project selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It is a block-chain-based charity platform that has currently raised about 1.7 billion won in donations and held more than 900 donation campaigns. All donations are recorded on a blockchain to emphasize transparency.
Lee Sujeong, CEO of CHERRY operator E4Net Co., Ltd., said, "We hope to create a healthy donation culture through a good webtoon based on donations, and to help even one life alienated from society."
Meanwhile, the '2021 1st Donation Good Day, CHERRY Webtoon Contest' is hosted by the blockchain charity platform 'CHERRY', and All People and Cheonggang University of Culture and Industry participate in cooperation with AlphaScan, CBS Broadcasting Station, and Korea IT, respectively. It is co-sponsored by the Women Entrepreneurs Association.
The winners will be announced on the website on October 15th.
