Cherry (CHERRY), a blockchain-based donation platform, announced on the 26th that it has won the Merit Award at the 2nd Social Impact Awards (SIA Korea). The award ceremony was held at KG Tower in Seoul.
The Social Impact Awards recognize and encourage organizations and initiatives that address social issues while creating sustainable change. Award recipients are selected through recommendations from public-interest civic groups, expert evaluations, and citizen voting. This year, the Merit Award was newly introduced, and the donation platform Cherry was selected as its recipient.
Cherry received the Merit Award in recognition of its contributions to building a citizen-participation–based donation environment and expanding social value. The platform was highly evaluated for enhancing accessibility and transparency in donations through digital technology and for fostering a participatory donation culture.
In addition to the Merit Award, the ceremony also presented the following honors: △ Innovation Award, awarded to Nanum Vitamin for its “Digital Sharing Voucher ‘Nabiyam’” △ Creativity Award, awarded to the youth parent support project “Kingmaker” △ Huddling Award, awarded to the Korea Financial Investment Association for its financial support program for youth preparing for independent living
Cherry has been building a structure that converts everyday actions into donations through blockchain technology. To date, the company has partnered with more than 480 nonprofit organizations and has operated over 2,700 donation campaigns.
CEO Lee Soo-jung said, “This award is the result of the choices made by each and every citizen who participated in donations. We will continue to create a donation environment where anyone can participate easily and transparently in their daily lives.”
Meanwhile, citizen voting for both the first and second Social Impact Awards was conducted through the Cherry platform.
