Updated: Jan 18, 2023

Recruitment, gas inspection, religious offerings… Now solve everything non-face-to-face!

Accelerating the non-face-to-face transition from all walks of life, nurturing competitiveness in the ‘untact culture’ in the post-COVID-19 era.

  • COVID-19 has become commonplace, non-face-to-face practice in daily life, global interest in ‘untact culture’

  • In preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, the domestic industry, public sector, and religion are actively introducing an ‘untact culture’ one after another.

As COVID-19 becomes commonplace, the ‘Untact culture’ that practices non-face-to-face in daily life is becoming a new social image in the post-COVID-19 era. As a result, the movement to spread the ‘untact culture’ is accelerating in all walks of life in Korea.

Expanding social distancing at the company level, industry shifting to non-face-to-face recruitment

In the industry, the atmosphere of conducting non-face-to-face recruitment is expanding to prevent the spread of infection to an unspecified number of people.

Lotte Duty Free introduced a non-face-to-face interview method through an online video system for interviews for new employees. The entire recruitment process, including competency interviews, presentation interviews, and executive interviews, was conducted online. Lotte Duty Free said it plans to actively practice social distancing at the company level by using the untact interview method for hiring experienced and contract workers in the future.

Meanwhile, the four largest accounting firms in Korea, Samil, Samjeong, Hanyoung, and Anjin, are also planning to hire new accountants in the second half of the year in a non-face-to-face manner. So far, offline events such as campus tours that have been held at university sites have been canceled or minimized due to concerns about the spread of infection. Instead, the strategy is to secure competitive talent by holding non-face-to-face recruitment briefings through SNS channels.

Public sector accelerating non-face-to-face administration through digital innovation

In the public sector, there is a trend toward non-face-to-face activities such as regular meetings and inspections.

The Jeollanam-do Office of Education has established a “video conferencing system” to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. The system, which was opened in early May, has been used more than 347 times by about 5,000 people to date, drawing attention and gaining high praise as a preemptive countermeasure for untact administration in the post-corona era.

Korea Gas Safety Corporation held a response meeting in the post-corona era to share opinions on non-face-to-face gas safety inspection and non-face-to-face inspection operation plans. While various ideas that can be used in the field, such as remote inspection through video, tactless (non-face-to-face) inspection, and image inspection, have been derived, plans to continue reviewing and reflecting untact smart inspection methods.

▲ Religious activities are farther away from the body and closer to the heart, spreading ‘social distancing’

Efforts by local governments and religious circles to prevent COVID-19 infection in religious facilities are also drawing attention.

Iksan City, Jeollabuk-do, to prevent the spread of Corona 19, refrain from religious gatherings and gatherings, and fully support the conversion to online worship. The Iksan Public Video Media Center lends professional manpower, equipment, and facilities to small-scale religious facilities to help hold religious gatherings online. Daejeon City is also supporting non-face-to-face media activities through video production training for religious groups.

Meanwhile, the ‘CHERRY Hope Sharing Platform’ of E4Net, an IT company, operates a non-face-to-face ‘online donation service’ that enables donations customized for each church, reducing the hassle of visiting churches for donations. Church members can easily make various donations through the church-specific pages provided in CHERRY. In addition, when on-site worship is unavoidably held, a QR check-in function is provided to record the visiting information of participating members. By recording the visit time of church members, you can take preemptive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the event of a confirmed case. This service is already being used in Chungshin Church, Geumran Church, Juhyang Church, New Life Church, Jeonju Antioch Church, and Ansan Dream Church, and is rapidly spreading.
