The ‘For You: Abandoned Dog Project’ is a joint project conducted by CHERRYWORLD and the Korea Abandoned Animal Welfare Association that raises donations for abandoned dogs through walking donations. The campaign’s catchphrase, 'You can save abandoned dogs by simply taking a walk with your own dog’, suggests an easier way for users to support abandoned dogs. This is especially true for those who hesitate to make direct cash donations or cannot adopt dogs, but have the desire to help stray animals. It is also expected that pet owners will focus on fact that one can easily participate on the protection of abandoned dogs by simply continuing what they do every day: walking their dogs.
Owning a dog costs around 250 to 300 thousand won monthly and the number of pet owners near 10 million in Korea. “If you walk ten thousand steps a day, about 10 won is donated to by each user. If all 10 million pet owners across the country turn on the CHERRYWORLD app and just walk, countless abandoned dogs can be saved”, spoke a CHERRYWORLD representative. If many dog owners unite, the poor environment of the protection of abandoned dogs can change dramatically.
