Korea’s first blockchain-based charity platform ‘CHERRY’ (hereafter CHERRY Platform) announced on the 29th that it has developed and provided a ‘church integrated app’ for Korean churches suffering from COVID-19 for free.

On the 29th, the CHERRY Platform held an agreement ceremony with the ‘Joint Reform General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea’ in the presence of Seo-Young Jeong, the head of the Joint Reform General Assembly, and Lee Sujeong, CEO of the CHERRY Platform, at the Joint Reform General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea. Through this agreement, over 3,500 churches belonging to the General Assembly can manage QR check-in, online donation, announcement guide, and online bulletin at one time through the integrated church app.

The QR check-in function of the church integrated app provided by the CHERRY Platform was developed for the church, and the risk of information leakage is drastically reduced as member information is not stored on an external server. In addition, there is an advantage in that the accumulated data can be used as ministry data in the future. With the online donation function, churches can open donation boxes for each purpose, and church members can donate through various payment methods such as account transfer, credit card payment, and Naver Pay. Online donations and QR code check-in details can be checked directly by the church manager through the website.

Lee Sujeong, CEO of CHERRY Platform (deacon of Chungshin Church), said, "This is a church integrated app developed while thinking about how to help churches in need due to the mandatory non-face-to-face worship service and electronic access list due to COVID-19. We decided to give it away for free to help." He said, “We will become a CHERRY platform that helps the church focus more on ministry in an era when the gospel is desperately needed due to Corona 19.”

Meanwhile, the CHERRY Platform was awarded the 2019 Minister of Science and Technology Information and Communication Award as the first charity platform using blockchain technology in Korea.
